Using the Verbal Behaviour Approach to emphasize language and learning skills, our centre-based program is individualized for each child.  Children can learn and foster new skills in a nurturing and positive environment.

Our Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) Program is one of a kind in Regina.  Currently, we are the only company to offer the Verbal Behaviour (VB) approach to teach language and learning skills to children with ASD. Verbal Behaviour is a scientific method coined by psychologist B.F. Skinner which targets skill deficit areas based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). The goal of  any VB program is to make language functional for the child; therefore, an emphasis is placed on first teaching the child to use language to meet their needs whether that be verbally or through the use of pictures (The Picture Exchange Communication System).

Upon registering in our IBI program, the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-Revised (ABLLS-R) is conducted with the child. This assessment tool provides the child's strengths and areas of need across 25 skill domains (understanding and expression of language, self-help skills, play skills, etc.), which allows us to create an individualized service plan specific to the child. This assessment is then conducted at the time of registration, again after six months and from there, every following year the child attends the centre to review progress and determine any changes to the individualized program.  In addition, it is then an option for the parents to meet with the ABACS team as often as every 6 months to review the child's service plan.  At this time, we also may provide video footage of the child's sessions.

Daily IBI Programming

A diagnosis of ASD is NOT required to register for IBI.  If your child has been screened for ASD and is awaiting a diagnosis, they are still eligilble to attend our program, as we believe it is crucial to start intervention as early as possible.

We understand that each family has a different schedule, which is why we try our very best to be flexible and work around your and your child's daily activities.  IBI programming runs between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. Please keep in mind that research shows that the more intensive the programming (15+ hours/week), the quicker the progress.

Children will work with a variety of instructors.  Not only does this encourage the child to be adaptable, but it promotes the generalization of skills.  Learners work in both 1:1 and in small group settings.

We ask that parents send lunch/snacks and any personal toileting items (if applicable) with their child to their session.
